REGISTER TO VOTE

To Vote in Iowa You Must Be Registered to Vote

To qualify to vote you must

  • a U.S. citizen,
  • an Iowa resident, and 
  • at least 17 1/2 years old (must be 18 years old by election day)

You cannot

  • be a convicted felon (see below for exemptions and application to have voting rights restored),
  • be judged mentally incompetent to vote by a court, or 
  • claim the right to vote in another place

To see if you are registered to vote at your current address, you can check your status here

If you need to register to vote before an election, change your party affiliation, or have moved, you have several options:

  1. Register online with the Iowa Secretary of State
  2. Complete a voter registration form and turn into the Warren County Auditor's office 
    1. Regular voter registration form 
    2. Large print voter registration form (to be printed on 9x14 paper)

 

College Student Voters

College students may choose to register to vote at their home address or at their college address. They cannot register to vote at both. If they choose their home address, they will need to register to vote with their County Auditor. If they choose their college address, they will need to register to vote with the County Auditor's office of the county where the college resides.

 

Restoration of Voting Rights for Convicted Felons

Executive Order 7 restores the right to vote to any person convicted of a felon, except for those convicted of homicide and related crimes, and who has been discharged of his or her sentence on or before August 5, 2020.
